by Sanda Vuckovic, photographer and creator of Little Upside Down CakeOne lesson I learned and re-learned in life is that we don't have any control over it. As soon as we accept that, we can enjoy it the way it is, with all its uncertainties. My first huge lesson was in the 90s, when freshly graduated, full of plans and hopes for the future, and I had to adapt to a new political situation in my country. My (and everybody else's) life was turned upside down. I felt as if my life was "on hold" for a few years. It shaped me and, besides the lesson of life's unpredictableness, I also realized that every material possession doesn't have any value. We can lose it from one day to the other. What nobody can take from us are memories, livings... those are just ours. We need to spend time with family, friends, laugh with our children, travel, know new cultures, make more friends, and know our neighbors... all these simple livings and memories will stay with us and are the most significant treasure.

Ingredients
250g butter
1/2tbs sour cream (or full-fat greek yoghurt)
120ml milk
2 egg yolks
3tsp baking powder
500g flour
egg for brushing
poppy seeds and sesame seeds for sprinkling
Method
Preheat your oven to 180ºC.Mix the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add the butter and mix until it forms fine crumbs.
In the other recipient, mix the milk, egg yolks and cream. Slowly add to the flour and butter mixture. Work the dough until it gets all together.
Stretch the dough with a rolling pin. With a round medium cutter cut circles of dough. For the inner circle, use a smaller cutter and press it halfway through.
Brush the down circle with egg white and cover it with the other circle, the one that has a small hole inside. Brush the top with egg yolk and sprinkle with seeds.

Ingredientes
250g manteiga
1/2 colher de natas ácidas (ou iogurte grego)
120ml leite
2 gemas de ovo
3 colheres de chá de fermento
500g farinha
ovo para pincelar
sementes de papoila e sementes de sésamo para polvilhar
Como fazer

Noutro recipiente, misture o leite, as gemas e as natas.
